How's your holidays so far? Hope it's pretty enjoyable for all of us. Anyways, i'm sure we are all starting to miss each other already and is waiting for someone to initiate some activities. Here are the different DNS1B01/02 activities organised :

EVENT 1 -18 th MARCH - min xuan

Hiking, at the southern ridges Park...one of the newest park in Singapore..close to 10km hike, will go through the treetop walk. Starts from west coast park, ends at henderson bridge (hort park).

Bring along some food, will picnic in the park (bread, tuna, drinks?).

For those who came for the Class BBQ at calvan's house, you will understand what i meant.

Finally, just for those who are interested in the DNS jacket. I regret to inform you all that the idea have been put off and delayed since we cannot meet the minimum required number of orders because there isn't any cooperation from a large group of DNS people. I pretty hate it to put it as politics but it seemed so. Anyways, we shall think bout it when we return from sailing for PHASE III. Thanks for your support, we appreciate it.

This 21Feb 2009, the whole DNS is to attend this saturday run at bukit timah hill,
Reporting time @ 1600h.

Character Developement - CIP in NURSING HOME...

Dear Jeremiah,

I am attached to Gift of Love, which is an old folks home-cum-food relief center for the poor.
It is founded by Mother Teresa and located at Marymount Center, 790 Thomson Road, Singapore 298142.

It is a 1) humble old folks for the poorest of the poor (i.e. those who can't effort to pay anything for its residency), and 2) a food relief center where the poor family collect ration on Saturday afternoon.

It is located up Marymount Hill, which is near the nursery opposite MacRitchie reservoir. Its contact number is 6,251,6004.

Its Mission / Vision ""To quench the infinite thirst of Jesus by laboring at the salvation and sanctification of the poorest of the poor, the unwanted, unloved, lonely, abandoned and homeless. To proclaim the Word of God by our prayers and spiritual works of mercy."

You may contact the superior Sr Mary Treslin, MC, or any of the sisters; and explained to them you would like to render your services in its home. Just tell them that you have heard about the place from Alfred Pang.

The lunch time is 11:00 pm, nap time is 12 to 2 pm. I am usually there on Sunday afternoon 2 to 4 pm. As at 3 pm, we will pray the divine mercy and at 3:15 pm, i will usually play a video unless there are visitors.

The list of activities that you have proposed is OK, as the old folks love outdoor activities and song. However, some of them are senile and may be hot temper. Thus, you may have to put up with a few of days. You will know by the way they behave.

The Christmas is also the season where we will prepare to distribute free gifts and food to 500 over families and old folks living in the neighborhood. You can also assist them. In short, please choose the area of work that you are inclined or have a liking to do it and you find it enjoyment : )

Interaction with Home's residents
Befriend, feed, help with errands and directly take care of our residents in ways such as, accompanying residents for their appointments or outings.

Assist in Residents’ Exercise Sessions
e.g. assisting residents during their daily exercise sessions and i! nteract with residents suffering from dementia especially in the morning sessions.

Organising indoor and outdoor activities
Help to organise activities for residents. We prefer to volunteer on a project rather than regular day-to-day basis. e.g. organise indoor activities for residents on an adhoc basis.

However, I also wish to highlight that as my course, Diploma in Nautical Studies requires us to sail, our volunteer work may only be on an adhoc basis.

Hi all Classmates, here is a few announcements that requires yr full participation.

Firstly,

Event : The "NAUTICAL RUN" is being held next month.
so we are required to be there in our UNIFORMs for the event

Date : 10th OCTOBER 08
Venue : EAST COAST PARK
Time : 7 AM sHARP

Next, SMA is hosting the MARTECH Forum as well in October.
we are required to be the Guards of Honour for this event on 13th October.

13th Oct - Actual event in school(Full uniform with Peak Cap.)

This Tanker Familirisation course on the 22th Sept to 27 Sept is a special course for those Personnel who do not have any sponsorship, they are paying the subsidised Price.

For Personnel with Sponsorship, who had submitted their names in the first place, Please go to see Capt Virdi again to re-register Again

Peronnel with Sponsorship will have to pay the FULL Price of $450, pls inform yr respective company. For the new course dates, please check with Capt Virdi when u guys re-register again.

1) The Scuba Diving and the Marine research volunteers are the same thing.

Captain Frederick has a Marine Research Lab at labrador Park.
He needs students volunteers that have Diving Licence to carry out some diving trips.

As for those without Diving License, you also can volunteer but u will be assisting him in the Lab at labrador Park.

I understand from Capt. K Nirmal Raj that your whole class was involved with fire-fighting. That is why your names do not appear on the list and also because no list was submitted to me.

I created the spreadsheet based on submitted namelists from various courses and classes.However since you seem so keen to participate

I can put you on a stand by list in case there is any "no-show" cases on Thursday next week. The stand by means that you have to come to the campus at your own risk to test whether there is still some room in the buses.

Combined Class Outing in June??

Hi all classmates,

The Cadet Captain wants to organise an outing for our class and his class so that we can bond with with them in June 08.

He suggested that we can go either Sentosa or East Coast ?? he is also welcome to suggestions for the outing.

I suggested going for makan and movie outing....

So anyone interested and the date that u guys or gals are available..??

I just received an sms from Capt Zaharin that he posted 1 FPFF question in the Blackboard>>>Discussion Board>>> Forum,

This Question carries 3 marks....

The FPFF on Thursday will carry 37 Marks. 3 marks will be awarded for those

Please bring extra sets of clothings and footwear, as we are expected to get wet for tomorrow's BST lesson.

Tml, 1A01, Group 1 & 2 are having Enclosed liferaft Drill,Demostration and Handling. including Manoverboard drills... all are expected to get wet.... those who cnnt swim pls inform the instructors.

1A02, Group 3 & 4 are having heaving line throwing, stage knots, 3 fold purchase rigging, Rope stopper, West country stopper and Chain stopper.

Please be informed that (26th may 08)Monday's make up CSW lesson is Cancelled as Ms Phang could not get any rooms at SMA.

Please go to Class at 10am instead for Capt Nirmal Raj's Lesson.

For Personnel without any Sponsorship at all, kindly make individual payments of $171.20 to Yvonne by the Friday 30th May 08.
